Today!

I’m still learning more and more about the deep blessing of contentment…

11 Not that I speak in respect of want:  for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound:  every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:11-13

I spent so many years hoping for a brighter day, a day when my health would return and my occupational and financial dreams would come true.  This kind of thinking and trap can lead to dissatisfaction with life, anxiety, and an unhealthy longing that robs us of today.  So how do I stop the “when” cycle?

I’m hoping the following helps many who wait for something more out of life and, as a result, miss what Jesus wants us to enjoy and learn from every moment of “today.”

These are the good old days.  So many people are trying to get on with their lives, so many won’t be able to be in and enjoy today if answers to their prayers appear delayed…

As most of you know, I’ve been dealing with health issues most of my life.  I’ve often felt like if I could just get well, then I could do and be what I’m supposed to be doing and being, then I’d be happy.  Not getting beyond the health issues caused frustration, and confusion.  It could make me hard to live with.

The other day, I was thinking about all of this again and the Lord told me, again, “Mark, these are the gold old days.  Live them and love those around you.  Lay your “whens/thens” down at the foot of My cross and leave them there.  Don’t regret these days and let them frustrate you, steal your peace, joy and rest.  Stop trying to live beyond today.  You must learn to not let circumstances steal today, steal your peace, steal the moment.  Enjoy today by relying on Me to be your source of joy.  Focus on Me and I’ll show you that right now, today, is a good old day.  And always remember, I work all things together for good including today.”

Have a great today!

God bless,

Mark
