Pastor Peter Jon Courson –
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
When I know I’m going on a trip, the destination makes me so excited and full of anticipation. It can take over my thinking and all that I do until I get there. It’s fun to think about like the time my family drove out to the Grand Canyon. We were all so excited to think about what it will actually be like to see it, to be there in person.
I believe Pastor Peter John Courson was 42 went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, February 5th. The next night, his pastor father, Jon Courson, gave a powerful sermon that included speaking about Peter John’s life. Jon talked about “Rufus.” Who? Yep. That’s what I thought, too, until I heard Jon’s talk on Rufus. Really good! See the link below.
I hope you’ll take time to listen to Pastor Jon’s talk.
One of the most notable traits about Peter John, his dad said, was that he didn’t complain about his many health issues. In a way, he was living like he was already in Heaven. It was like he knew what was ahead and the joy of that coming reality kept him from complaining. Peter John kept the faith. His children have that legacy to build on. Pretty neat.
One day, we’ll all be in Heaven. As God shared with me sometime ago, “Mark, you can live there on earth, right now, this very moment, like you’re already in Heaven with Me because that’s how I see you. I’m giving you My perspective in your spirit man. I see you here with all your tears wiped away and you’re having a wonderful time in Heaven. Live that way now, and let others see My light in your life.”
Wow, that really hit me. God is so good, people. We have all of Heaven to live for. Right now. Really. We’re just passing through this life and God, Who sees all time and eternity, already sees us, you and me, with Him in Heaven. That perspective can really help me to lay aside every “weight” that tries to weigh me down in my spirit.
Peter John’s already there. He’s taken that final step out of this realm and into Heaven. We’re on our way there, too. Let’s keep the faith. Let’s kick up our heels and live this life showing others the hope of Heaven. Let’s ask God to remind us of our future with Him, to give us His perspective of seeing us in Heaven right now, with all tears wiped away, full of His, His truths and joy. After all, we’re all just one step away from it. Hallelujah!
The HOPE of Heaven. Wow, think about that for a while. In fact, “Jesus, please show us everything that the HOPE of Heaven means so we can be filled with the wonder of that HOPE now, in this life. Let it overtake us and fill us with Your joy, Lord, every day. Thank You, Jesus.”
We’re on a trip, folks. We’re going to Heaven. Our car’s packed and we’re driving down the road that leads there. Oh boy. Can’t wait. I keep reading my Bible (my map) that’s leading me there. I keep looking out the window trying to catch a glimpse. “What’s that, Father? You can already see up ahead. You can already see me there?”
God bless,
Mark
