25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
27 “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
Luke 12:25-31
Our Heavenly Father is so faithful and watches over our hearts to make sure we get set free indeed.
In the past, Annie and I would worry and fret thinking that doing so would make God move on our behalf and work it out so we got what we wanted or to receive what we thought we needed. We weren’t necessarily aware of it at the time, but it was an effort to manipulate God. But God knew that way of thinking and living was not good and that it would lead to bondage rather than freedom. He knew we would never be free if we stayed tied to our own understanding and made worry a habit.
But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
2 Thessalonians 3:3
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto
thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Romans 12:2
Thanking and praising God in all things,
Mark
