Ann And I Were Meant To Fall In Love

Ann and I were meant to fall in love with Jesus, and each other –

The following is not a guilt trip. Not at all. Finding Christ isn’t about laying guilt on anyone. It’s all about having the best life we can have this side of eternity, and then going on to spend all of eternity with Him.

If we don’t pursue Christ, we can miss so many blessings. On the other hand, if we pursue Him with all our heart, we’ll find Him. I want to encourage all men to find Christ, and to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her. Truly, loving our wives is a large part of pursuing Christ with our whole heart as we endeavor to find Him. And, our wives and children have a much better chance of pursuing and finding Him as well.

As husbands, we can miss out on so many blessings if we’re not loving our wives and truly becoming one with them. Husband’s love your wives as Christ loves the church. There’s a real blessing in pursuing our wives. There are always blessings in doing what God commands us to do.

Beautiful
By Gordon Lightfoot

At times I just don’t know
How you could be anything but beautiful
I think that I was made for you
And you were made for me

And I know that I won’t ever change
‘Cause we’ve been friends
Through rain or shine
For such a long, long time

Laughing eyes and smiling face
It seems so lucky just to have the right
Of telling you with all my might
You’re beautiful tonight

And I know that you will never stray
‘Cause you’ve been that way
From day to day
For such a long, long time

And when you hold me tight
How could life be anything but beautiful
I think that I was made for you
And you were made for me

And I know that I won’t ever change
‘Cause we’ve been friends
Through rain or shine
For such a long, long time

And I must say it means so much to me
To be the one who’s telling you
I’m telling you
That you’re beautiful
_______

Ann came home the other night after having dinner with a friend she used to work with. I’d gone to bed, but before going to bed, I put the song “Beautiful” by Gordon Lightfoot on the computer in the living room so she’d hear it when she got home. In my life and eyes, that song fits Ann beautifully.

Sure enough, Ann came into the bedroom and gave me a kiss telling me how much she loved me and how thankful she was that I think she’s so beautiful.

The first time I played “Beautiful” for Ann on the computer, Ann told me she used to hope that one day someone would think about her the way the “Beautiful” song lyrics describe a man’s love for a lady. Ann didn’t necessarily think she was beautiful. Boy, was she wrong. ☺

I was working at the original “Sports Chalet” in the Southern California area while I going college. I was home on summer break and working at Sports Chalet’s gas station/rental shop in La Canada when in drives this gorgeous lady in a station wagon with a small gold ban on her wedding finger. Wow, I thought she was an absolute knock out. And, she had her hair up in curlers which made it even worse. I mean, if she was that beautiful in curlers then what did she look like without the curlers?

Man, I was totally engulfed with her beauty.

BUT, she had on what I thought was a wedding ring…After Ann left with a full tank of gas, I went into the rental shop office and said to the other workers, “Wow, how fortunate the guy is who’s married to that bombshell.”

A little later on that summer, Ann came driving in the gas station in another car and this time, she had her long, blond hair down and was dressed in a really pretty dress. When I walked up to her car, the first thing out of my mouth was, “Wow, you don’t look bad in curlers, but you look even better like this.” She smiled and asked me to fill up her car. I was dying inside.

When I returned to college the next fall, I was feeling pretty lonely. I wasn’t dating anyone and had no prospects. Sometime later, I discovered that Ann, the beautiful girl I’d seen in the rental shop gas station, was dating one of the fellows who worked there. I was totally amazed to find out she was just 16 and not married after all.

Well, as time went on, I came home from college one day driving by Sports Chalet on my way home. The manager told me I needed to call Ann because she just kept asking about me. I thought, “Are you serious?”

The rest is history. Ann and I got married and I was in dream land.

Now, why am I telling you all this? Because I think Ann is SO beautiful from head to toe. In fact, I tell her that probably 20-50 times a day. I can’t help it. She simply takes my breath away – even after 40 years of marriage. And, I think she’s more beautiful, physically and spiritually, each day. No Kidding.

God had a plan all along. Ann desired to be beautiful to someone, and I wanted a lady exactly like Ann – beautiful, and someone I could love with my whole life and heart. And, someone who wanted to be close to Jesus like I did.

God writes “beautiful” stories. And, I’m feeling pretty blessed “to be the one who’s telling Ann that she’s beautiful tonight.”

That’s why Gordon Lightfoot’s “Beautiful” song was playing when Ann came home last night. Wow, “to think that I was made for her and she was made for me.” Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it right now.

At times, I like to play that song for Ann. I like to remind her of how beautiful I think she is, that her dream of someone thinking the “Beautiful” song’s lyrics about her has come true, and of how much God loves us and is making each of us even more beautiful as He changes us into His likeness, from glory to glory.

Here’s a song I wrote about Ann one day when I was thinking about her and how much she means to me.

Way Beyond Love
By Mark Hellikson To Ann Hellikson

When I first saw you, I thought you were taken,
The second time I was relieved to be mistaken,
You’re exactly what love looks like.

We met to talk, we found we were alike,
We agreed we’d be good together and first kissed that night,
You’re exactly what love looks like.

More time together was proving what our hearts knew,
We had so much in common as our love grew,
You’re exactly what love looks like.

We said our vows and promised our futures,
For better, for worse our love was what mattered,
You’re exactly what love looks like.

We’ve loved each other and come this far together,
And have found new ways to say “I love you” to each other,
Way beyond love.

Time has tested love and love’s the winner,
But something deeper’s been discovered in our souls,
Way beyond love.

Our commitment to each other has given new meaning,
And now some how, way beyond love, two became one forever,
Way beyond love, way beyond love, way beyond love now, way beyond love.

_______

Pursuing Ann has helped both of us to pursue and find more and more of Jesus, and taken us way beyond human love.

Loving Ann and Jesus with my whole heart…I’m learning how to do this better with each new day..

Sitting here thinking about what God has done and anticipating the future with God and Ann – Life is Beautiful.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). As long as I remember to “do” what God wants me to do, I have heaven on earth – so to speak – because I’m doing His will. My life is lining up with the kingdom. That’s why I ask the Lord to remind me to adhere to His will whenever I get tempted to “do” things my way, to stop doing His will for whatever reasons.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done as it is in heaven. Mmmm…

Look up. Let His kingdom come into your life. His kingdom is Romans 8:28, loving my neighbor as myself, loving my wife and laying down my life for her, following Jesus and becoming more and more like Him, peace, love, faith, joy, self control, meekness, humility, forgiveness, and so much more. That’s the good life.

Heaven

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me (Jesus).

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you (those who accept Him as their Savior, and as a result, spend eternity with Jesus in heaven).

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Did you know that Jesus addressed hell more than He did heaven while He was on earth?

It’s funny how these days we see and hear skulls, cross bones, death slogans and songs all over the place. BUT, no one wants to talk about hell, the place where all who do not accept Jesus as their Savior will spend eternity.

_______

Pastor Dr. David Jeremiah – Everyone’s name is recorded in the Book of Life upon their birth. If during their life time, they do not come to believe in Jesus as their Lord, their name will be erased from the Book of Life and they will not go to heaven.

The Bible is not “a truth.” It is “The Truth.” A lot of people say they have their own version of what the truth is these days. But, if their “truth” doesn’t line up with what the Bible says, their truth is really a lie.

The journey to Heaven, to the kingdom, begins the day we ask Jesus into our hearts, to be our Savior.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

While on earth, Jesus was always talking about the kingdom. Everything He did was a reflection of that beautiful, wonderful place. He often went off alone to be with His Father so He could come back to people and perform the Father’s will in their midst. It’s the Father’s will to restore the kingdom in us. The kingdom is full of the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done, On earth as it is in Heaven.

God’s will is so full of righteousness. His will is full of all that is right. Right – What joy.

Heaven: Loving Annie Keeps Me “Looking Up!”

I’m sharing the following because I want to keep encouraging everyone to keep looking up. God sees each one of us already in Heaven with all tears wiped away. Praise God! The following is the type of deliverance He brings to those who continue to look up to Him, to Heaven and all of the wonderful resources God has in store for His children.

I hope I can adequately convey the following about loving my wife because it’s becoming so powerful in my life.

I’ve been sick this week and taking Benadryl. Benadryl helps with colds and sleep, but it can really mess with my mind and emotions. It can make me dizzy, lightheaded and much more vulnerable to spiritual attacks, self-pity, fear, anxiety and depression.

I was feeling pretty down yesterday morning when the Lord reminded me to focus on and love the precious wife He’s given me, Ann.

Wow, I keep being amazed at how loving my wife (by thinking of her needs before mine; by seeking her out and reading something about Jesus to her; by making sure she has everything she needs; by being gentle with her, etc.) is setting me free in so many areas of my life. When the enemy’s attacking me with his lies and trying to get me to submit to his will, often, the thing that brings me out of self-pity; thoughts of failure regarding my past; old, relentless, and destructive thought patterns; or that my future will merely be a repeat of the past, the Lord almost always reminds me to love Annie and to remember the covenant of love I made to her on our wedding day – That is, to love her above myself, above my own issues, spiritual oppression and attacks.

You see, Jesus continues to show me that loving Annie interrupts and defeats the lies the enemy attacks my mind and emotions with. It’s really something how loving her stops the lies and brings me back to faith and bright hope for our lives. It gets me back on track to what Jesus tells me each morning, “Come on, Mark. Let’s go, and I’ll show you all the blessings I have for you today.”

What an incredible blessing it is to love my Annie. Thank You, Jesus, for Annie, and for faithfully reminding me about my covenant of love with her.

Keep your eyes on the prize, precious people – Jesus, our Father, the Holy Spirit and Heaven. God has so many rich blessings for those who look up.

Heaven

While this Christian life may seem challenging at times, it’s the most exciting and fulfilling life one could ever live. And, when this life is over, we get all of Heaven and eternity with our Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

What a deal.

Take time to think about Heaven. It makes this earthly life even more fun in Jesus.

The Book, And Heaven

Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.
John 21:25

It is written…I love reading those words in the Bible.

The Bible (Meaning “The Book”) was mainly written about earth – This life. Think about that for a minute…

The Word we have in printed form (The Bible) is pretty much about earth and speaks little about everything else that you and I know nothing or very little about.

For the time being, you and I are limited to this finite existence. But God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit have always been and dwell in eternity – Yep, that’s mind-blowing. Who knows how much more They know about all of life, living, existence, new frontiers, eternity. How many more “books” do They have? Isn’t that fun to think about?

Heaven. It’s all out there is front of us, precious people.

Ann and I like to take binoculars with us in the car. We have another set for the home. They give us a totally different perspective. We like looking at the distance. It brings it closer and into view. One thing I’ve noticed about looking through the binoculars is that I’m focused on just what’s in the lens. I don’t really notice anything else around me. All my attention is on what I can see through the binoculars.

All tears have been wiped away. God already sees us (you and me) in Heaven, filled with His joy, and former things being remembered no more. Boy, that can really fill me with God’s Presence and joy – Here and now. It allows me to look at this life with a whole, different perspective. One that is so freeing and true.

Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn’s entry for today reminded me of what the Lord told me some time ago regarding living on earth as though all my tears had already been wiped away in Heaven since that’s how God sees me right now – He can see the whole picture of our lives. While I don’t always remember God’s words to me, when I’m reminded of them, they can really give me a freedom and joy beyond the confines of this earthly life and realm. ☺

On Earth As It Is on Earth
By Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn

The Lord told us to pray, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” That’s not only a prayer, it’s the secret to living victoriously in God. The key is to live your life on earth as it is in heaven. Most believers live on earth as it is on earth. But then if you have troubles on earth, you’ll live troubled. If you have setbacks on earth, you’ll live discouraged. If you have people trespass against you on earth, you’ll live in anger, bitterness, or unforgiveness.

We let our peace, our well-being, and our joy go up and down – all because we’re living on earth as it is on earth. Don’t live in your situation as it is in your situation, or in your emotions as it is in your emotions. That’s all on earth as it is on earth. What matters is how it is in heaven. Stop living an “on earth as it on earth” life, and start living an “on earth as it is in heaven” life. In heaven, it’s blessed. And your life will be just as blessed when you start living on earth as it is in heaven.

Today’s Mission: Seek to live this day not from earth to earth, and not even from earth to heaven, but from heaven to earth.

For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.
Psalm 119:89

Heaven Is “Right”

Wow, what a place Heaven will be. I was listening to the song “In The Presence Of Jehovah” the other day while taking a break when the Lord began talking to me about Heaven. It’s going to be so much more incredible than we know.

For one thing, the Holy Spirit said, “There’s no “wrong” up here.” I thought about that for a while and that thought can really blow your mind. There’s no wrong in Heaven and there are none of the consequences wrong brings with it. He went on to tell me there’s only righteousness in Heaven. That means everything there is “right” and the way God intends it to be. I mean I could barely get my mind around that thought even though, at the same time, I was filled with the neatest feeling of what that might be like.

Heaven’s going to be so much more than just gold streets, and all the other sights. It’s going to be completely “right.”

It’s like one of the Chronicles of Narnia books says about the kids finally being in Heaven only better. One of them makes the comment, “I can’t get fearful even when I try.” I don’t think we’ll even think about fear or trying to get scared once we’re in Heaven.

“Right.” That’s it. Nothing else. Wow.

Take time to think about Heaven, precious people. It’s amazing to do so.
God bless,

Mark

The HOPE OF Heaven

Pastor Peter Jon Courson –

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
2 Timothy 4:7-8

When I know I’m going on a trip, the destination makes me so excited and full of anticipation. It can take over my thinking and all that I do until I get there. It’s fun to think about like the time my family drove out to the Grand Canyon. We were all so excited to think about what it will actually be like to see it, to be there in person.

I believe Pastor Peter John Courson was 42 went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, February 5th. The next night, his pastor father, Jon Courson, gave a powerful sermon that included speaking about Peter John’s life. Jon talked about “Rufus.” Who? Yep. That’s what I thought, too, until I heard Jon’s talk on Rufus. Really good! See the link below.

I hope you’ll take time to listen to Pastor Jon’s talk.

One of the most notable traits about Peter John, his dad said, was that he didn’t complain about his many health issues. In a way, he was living like he was already in Heaven. It was like he knew what was ahead and the joy of that coming reality kept him from complaining. Peter John kept the faith. His children have that legacy to build on. Pretty neat.

One day, we’ll all be in Heaven. As God shared with me sometime ago, “Mark, you can live there on earth, right now, this very moment, like you’re already in Heaven with Me because that’s how I see you. I’m giving you My perspective in your spirit man. I see you here with all your tears wiped away and you’re having a wonderful time in Heaven. Live that way now, and let others see My light in your life.”

Wow, that really hit me. God is so good, people. We have all of Heaven to live for. Right now. Really. We’re just passing through this life and God, Who sees all time and eternity, already sees us, you and me, with Him in Heaven. That perspective can really help me to lay aside every “weight” that tries to weigh me down in my spirit.

Peter John’s already there. He’s taken that final step out of this realm and into Heaven. We’re on our way there, too. Let’s keep the faith. Let’s kick up our heels and live this life showing others the hope of Heaven. Let’s ask God to remind us of our future with Him, to give us His perspective of seeing us in Heaven right now, with all tears wiped away, full of His, His truths and joy. After all, we’re all just one step away from it. Hallelujah!

The HOPE of Heaven. Wow, think about that for a while. In fact, “Jesus, please show us everything that the HOPE of Heaven means so we can be filled with the wonder of that HOPE now, in this life. Let it overtake us and fill us with Your joy, Lord, every day. Thank You, Jesus.”

We’re on a trip, folks. We’re going to Heaven. Our car’s packed and we’re driving down the road that leads there. Oh boy. Can’t wait. I keep reading my Bible (my map) that’s leading me there. I keep looking out the window trying to catch a glimpse. “What’s that, Father? You can already see up ahead. You can already see me there?”

God bless,

Mark

Heaven

Dr. Claire Britton had told Ann and I not to move to leave California until we’d been filled with the Spirit. How could Claire had known? What did the Spirit know that was so vital to us being filled with Him before we left? What precious thoughts…

When Ann and I were talking again about the powerful and sweet experience we had at the tiny, Mexican church in the Los Angeles area back in the late 70s, we talked about how, after the Spirit had touched all of our lives, my dad asked the pastor how he did “that.” The sweet, humble pastor replied, “It was all Spirit and no flesh.” The pastor had done nothing. The flesh had done nothing. It was all Spirit. For a moment, we were in the Spirit and totally away from the flesh. What a transformation it was. What a taste of the truly divine Presence.

No one could have conjured up what had just taken place there. Completely unannounced, and without consent, the Holy Spirit had filled everyone of us in that building, and, for those precious few moments, we were in the Spirit with no thought for the flesh.

Wow, the way we felt when the Spirit filled us is how we will feel in Heaven, forever. Only, it will be so much stronger because we’ll be in Heaven with God…And, there will be no sin, no flesh. All Spirit. Mmmm…

What will life in our new home with our Bridegroom be like? He gave us just a small taste in that church that day. It was enough to make us want to forsake all else that no longer mattered so we could be with Him. Nothing could compare with being His bride, with being all Spirit.

Haruach vehakala omrim bo – Hebrew for The Spirit and the bride say “Come!”

We’re all longing for our departure from this world to be with Jesus. I think it’s so wonderful that the Spirit is looking forward to that day as much as we are. Isn’t that cool?

Come Lord Jesus!

Inline image

“Come away with Me, MY love…”

Let that sink in for a while. Almost home to be with our Bridegroom, never to be apart (never to be in the flesh) ever again. Heaven…All Spirit, with our Love, our Jesus, forevermore.

I just want people to live by God so they won't be devoured.

No More Night
Written By Walt Harrah – Sung By David Phelps

The timeless theme, Earth and Heaven will pass away
It’s not a dream, God will make all things new that day
Gone is the curse from which I stumbled and fell
Evil is banished to eternal hell

No more night, no more pain
No more tears, never crying again
And praises to the great, “I am”
We will live in the light of the risen Lamb

See all around, now the nations bow down to sing
The only sound is the praises to Christ, our King
Slowly the names from the book are read
I know the King, so there’s no need, no need to dread

No more night, no more pain
No more tears, never crying again
And praises to the great, “I am”
We will live in the light of the risen Lamb

See over there, there’s a mansion
Oh, that’s prepared just for me
Where I will live with my Savior eternally

And there will be no more night, no more pain
No more, no more tears, never crying again
And praises to the great, “I am”
We will live in the light of the risen Lamb

All praises to the great, “I am”
We’re gonna live in the lights of the risen Lamb

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18
